The COVID-19 pandemic is on everyone’s mind and all of us are taking the necessary steps to mitigate the impacts this virus has on our lives. At Esri Canada, we too have been watching the news and are working with government and business leaders to do what we can to help understand and minimize the impact of this pandemic. The safety of our employees, our users and our communities is our number one concern. This message outlines the steps that Esri Canada is taking.

Business Continuity

First, we want to assure you that Esri Canada is fully equipped to provide the support to our users that they require. We have business continuity policies and systems in place to enable all our staff to work remotely, so your regular points of contact at Esri Canada are still available to respond to your needs. Our Technical Support team located across Canada is prepared and committed to keeping our services operational for all customers. If you require assistance, please reach out to us at support@esri.ca or call: 1-877-441-0337. If you currently are using the ArcGIS Online Platform, you can monitor platform service levels at https://status.arcgis.com/.

Events

We are heeding the advice of experts for social distancing. Effective immediately, Esri Canada will cancel all in-person User Conference events and planned seminars scheduled up to December 31, 2020. Any users that have already registered for one of these events will receive a full refund. Esri Canada will not attend any industry tradeshows until the threat of infection has been removed and health officials say it is safe to once again participate in large crowd events. Esri Canada will continue to host and offer webinars and other virtual events. This is the new normal for the foreseeable future.

Training

Until further notice, all of our instructor-led courses are being offered via online delivery only. If you have any questions about training, please email training@esri.ca.

Communications

At times like these, information and effective communications are essential. We will post any evolving news related to our business operations on the Esri Canada website (www.esri.ca) or send emails to keep you informed.

We have also developed a COVID-19 Resource Hub to help provide holistic information about the outbreak in Canada. You can access that hub here:  https://resources-covid19canada.hub.arcgis.com/ 

This GIS hub is a collection of data, maps, applications and other resources available to assist in monitoring, preparing for and responding to this rapidly changing situation. These resources are being curated for the Canadian and global health community to use and share as the pandemic unfolds. We can also support you and your organization to develop similar hubs for your needs.

As we all adapt to the impacts of COVID-19, GIS has never been more relevant. You are a member of this important Canadian GIS community and can help. We are looking for authoritative data resources (e.g. hospitals, schools, daycares, clinics, etc.) that can be leveraged to further enhance insights from the COVID-19 Canada Resource Hub.
