Members of Calgary Airports’ Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) had to spend long minutes rummaging through static, unsearchable PDFs to help emergency response personnel navigate the airports every time an alarm went off. Using an interactive, searchable geographic information system (GIS), their spatial data services team created easy-to-use maps, enabling staff to pinpoint where to send responders in seconds, rather than minutes.

Protecting sensitive watersheds

Haida Gwaii, a group of islands in northern British Columbia, is sacred to the Haida people and relies on water for its ecosystem and culture. Chartwell Resource Group improved forest management there by replacing spreadsheets with a shared real-time GIS platform for watershed data, enhancing transparency, compliance and stewardship while supporting ecological protection, Indigenous values and sustainable forestry.
