Homelessness is a complex issue and remains a growing concern for many communities. In the City of Abbotsford, community outreach workers and service providers face challenges in efficiently coordinating and delivering services to people experiencing homelessness.

To help coordinate service delivery, access real-time shelter bed availability, and develop long-term data for resource advocacy, Abbotsford developed a GIS solution called the Community Homelessness Information Application (CHIA).

In this webinar, attendees will learn about CHIA, its real-time data features, how it enhances coordination among service agencies, and more. CHIA’s team will demonstrate the program’s impact on data-driven decision-making and include success stories from their users who have improved their coordination and outreach efforts using GIS.

Key Points

  • Impact of GIS on homelessness community outreach.

  • How GIS technology could apply to local homelessness programs across Canada.
